1861 does have Military Road, Playden, Sussex
James Care Head Mar 64 Ag Lab Kent Rolvenden
Mary Wife Mar 64 Sussex Rye
John G (although it was transcribed as a J it reads G) Son Mar 43 Ag Lab " "
RG9; Piece: 557; Folio: 146; Page: 1

I'm assuming Mercy is being badly written and rewritten as Mary, definitely Mercy in 1851.

The 'G' in 'John G Care' stands for Goble - he was my g,g,g grandfather

Mercy was Mercy Clark of Rye I believe

Hello

Unfortunately all I know about Margaret is that she was born in 1841 and that she was married in Wilton in 1862. She died in 1877. She had a daughter called Jessie so it is possible she named her after her mother.

Hello

I am trying to help a friend with her family tree. We are looking for information about a John Wardrop born in Scotland c1838. He married a Margaret Robson on 28th June 1862 in Wilton, Roxburgh (their children were born in Hawick and Dumfries). I think Margaret was from Wilton as there seems to have been a lot of Robsons marrying there.

I was wondering if anyone could find him and Margaret on the 1871 census in Dumfries so I can ascertain where he is from. Their children were Jessie bapt. 1862, Sarah bapt. 1863, Margaret bapt. 1868, and Elizabeth bapt. 1870. I don't know who John's parents were so it would be great to be able to find him on the 1841 and 1851 censuses.

Many thanks

Kirsten

Thanks very much Blue

I think I've found a death for John Wood in 1848, and Jane remarried in 1853.

Does it say whether Jane had an occupation in 1851?

Regards

Kirsty

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / WOOD - ORLESTONE Look up
« on: Wednesday 06 December 06 19:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

My g, g, g, g grandmother's married name was Jane Wood. She was born in Ham Street in about 1814. She married John Wood in about 1834 but I don't know her maiden name. In 1841 they were living in Orlestone near Ham Street with 3 children. Can anyone find them in the 1851 census? By 1861 Jane has remarried and is living in Rye with George Campany.

Many thanks
