My website
www.bandcstaffregister.com Website updated Sept 2017

Has taken over the history of the people and ships that made up the B&C Group.
This site was previously the unioncastlestaffregister but that is now solely to do with the history of the Union Line and the Castle Line prior to 1900.

All the post 1900 contents of the Union Castle site are included in mine.

Companies who staff and ships are recorded are:
Bowater Steamship Company
Bullard King
Cayzer Irvine Shipping
Clan Line Steamers
Hector Whaling Company
Houston Line
King Line Steamers
Safmarine Mailships
Scottish Shire Line
Scottish Tankers
South American Saint Line
Springbok Line
Union Castle Mail Steamship Company

I am always grateful to receive more entries, so if you wish to add either yourself or people you know then please contact me

Hi there

Can anyone tell me what Union Castle ships (Southampton) a certain Mr George S Cochrane captained? He retired c1967 so anything around that time and before would be very useful!

Many regards

A list of the ships he commanded appears here:

Family History Beginners Board / Re: The ship SS Wells City .
« on: Tuesday 09 September 14 22:49 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping to find a picture of the SS Wells City which sailed from Avonmouth , England to New York in March 1950 . I have tried the Bristol City line of steamships website & others , but have had no luck . Can anyone point me to a site where I will find this ship ? Many thanks , Graham .

I run a web site that records the history of the ships of companies that made up The British & Commonwealth Shipping Company.
South American Saint Line was a part of it and I have long sought a pic of St Ina.
I have found one of her as she was as Schwarzwald, you will find it here:
