Thanks very much.  My William was not in the military - he was a labourer and would have been with his family if still living in 1841.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Looking for KENDALL 1841 Clerkenwell
« on: Sunday 31 December 06 15:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All
I have been searching the 1841 census on Ancestry to no avail.  I am certain that my KENDALL family would be there but they don't come up in any sort of search.  I am wondering if anyone has their own copy of the 1841 census for Clerkenwell?  Following is the family I seek:
William KENDALL age unknown and birth place unknown
(wife) KENDALL - name begins with 'C' - born in Romford Essex - 1800
Andrew KENDALL born Clerkenwell 1822
John Kendall born Clerkenwell 1830
James William born Clerkenwell 1833 (or William)
I don't know of any other children.  This family is driving me around the bend!!!!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Kady
PS they lived in St Pancras, St Marylebone in 1851 and father William was by then deceased - mother only listed as Mrs C KENDALL

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Looking for a Marriage - Jersey or Guernsey
« on: Saturday 18 November 06 14:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all.
I've tried this request before without success but am trying again.  My Gr-Gr-Grandparents were married around 1865/66 - their first child was born in 1867 in St. Helier.  They were:
Thomas Bolton CUMMINGS, born in 1840, Portsea Island Hampshire and Mary Ann OSBORNE, born 1846 in Crewkerne Somerset
Mary Ann had been living in St Peter Port, Guernsey with her family prior to her marriage.
Here's hoping!
Cheers,

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Merriott Parish Register Lookup Request
« on: Thursday 27 April 06 21:37 BST (UK)  »
Hello all.

I have traced my OSBORN(E) family to Merriott, Somerset and, as luck would have it, it is not covered in the IGI.  Hoping that is not because the Parish Registers have been destroyed, I am wondering if someone has access to these and would be willing to have a look for a couple of entries?
Baptisms:
William OSBORNE - born about 1821 - father Henry OSBORNE (possible or likely mother-Elizabeth)
Marriages:
Henry OSBORNE (probably to Elizabeth) - before 1821 - possibly even before 1800
Any help truly appreciated.

Hi Bryant,

Thanks for that!  Sadly it doesn't appear to be my lot.  I found them in 1851 after William Sr. was deceased.  Mrs. C Kendall, widow, (looked like that) from Romford, Essex was the head and my (James) William, aged 19,  along with brothers Andrew born 1822 and John born 1830.  Now that Ancestry has the 1841 census online, I can't find any of them.  Must be either transcribed incorrectly or on an illegible page.  Drat!

Again, thanks.

Kady
