We ( the "West Sussex Glew's") are all related to Joseph Glue, Joseph was the uncle of John Glew ( 1829-1876), otherwise known as John Glew, John Glen and William Glue and John Glue was Daisy's Grandfather.......and my Great Great Grandfather.

Don't know if you are aware but William Tully was not the only "Tully" to marry a "Glue", back in England and several decades later Frederick Tully, a relative of William's from the same village in Devon, married my Great Aunt Daisy Glew / Glue (my grandfather's sister), a relative of Margaret's.
A co-incidence or what!!

Just look at my family tree on Ancestry, poor Josiah grew up in the workhouse (Easebourne workhouse where so many many of my family started their lives and latter died) and appears to have followed in his father's footsteps as his name appears again and again in the courts, my final record of him was in Dorchester prison, Dorset, where he was held under the assumed name of Joe Brown serving time for quite a serious assault......after that "nothing" he simply disappears but l presume he changed his name more than once and as a consequence he is untraceable, there are references to a Josiah Glew in the north west of England but they are not "our" Josiah, hope this helps.

I recently bought a New Year's card at an antiques market from an "Evelyn" to Sergeant Major C W Maynard. 509th. Battery. Royal Field Artillery. l believe it dates from WW1 but beyond that l have no knowledge of this man and despite my best efforts via "Ancestry" have been unable to throw any light upon who he was, where he served or whether he survived the War or not, anyone out there with any relevant information l would love to hear from you.

The Common Room / The ancestry of William Tully, died Murwillumbah, NSW, 1921.

I am attempting to establish the paternity of William Tully (1845-1921)
William was born in Galmpton, Devon, UK. circa 1845 and emigrated to Australia at the age of seventeen where he met and married Margaret Glue in December 1865. My problem is that there are two possible candidates for the father of William, he is "probably" either the son of Edward Tully and his wife "Rachael" or he could be the son of Joseph Tully and his wife "Susannah" as both Edward and Joseph had sons called "William" in the same area of Devon in the same year.
William and Margaret had a large number of children in Australia and l'm hoping that someone / anyone who has knowledge of this family may be able to assist.
