Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: PALMER/SOUTHWOOD marriage & Census

Thanks Trish!  That gives the answer that I was looking for! I had grouped the two groups of children together, but was looking for a definitive answer as to which was which, and that birth record of Joseph Palmer with mother nee Walfird makes it 100%!  Fantastic :)

hi, Yes I have the marriage record of Elizabeth Southwood to Joseph Palmer in 1816, but there are two couples having children in Over Stowey.  There was a second Joseph Palmer married to Elizabeth Walford in 1820, the challenge then is which children belong to which Elizabeth!  Normally on the death certificate it has the mother's maiden name, so I was wondering if Lavinia Palmer's death certificate stated her mother's maiden name or not?  A lot of researchers on the web have her mother as Elizabeth Southwood, but unless it is on Lavinia's death record it is an assumption, as her mother could be Elizabeth Walford, not Elizabeth Southwood.  Thank you!

hi Suzy W, I have a DNA match to a descendant from Lavinia Pamer/Beadon Davey and am trying to work out how I match them.  I have ancestral lines into Taunton and Enmore/Stowey area.  What I am interested in is, on the death certificate of Lavinia Palmer who does it say that her mother was?  Her father was Joseph Palmer - it is listed on her 1849 marriage record at Nether Stowey and that he was a labourer and this matches her 1827 birth at Taunton.  There are two marriages of a Joseph Palmer at Over Stowey - the first is in 1816 to Elizabeth Southwood the second is in 1820 to Elizabeth Walford.  Do the surnames Southwood or Walford appear on Lavinia's death certificate?

Many thanks Keziah2 for your post :)  It is useful information as it shows one family were there and having children in the right time frame.

Thanks Rosie :)  I'd found the births in Kessingland and they already appear in my family tree.  Henry Catchpole born in Kessingland is a different one to the one born in Cookley, there are at least 3 Henry Catchpole's born around 1802, one of them dies in 1803.  I've assumed my Kezia b1802 is the one in Kessingland, but she consistently says she is born in Cookley.  They are some distance apart, so am wanting to make sure I have the right ones :)

Hi,
I'm trying to trace several Catchpoles that claimed in various UK census' that they were born in Cookley parish in Suffolk:
Henry Catchpole b1804
Kezia Catchpole b1803
John Catchpole b1808

If anyone is able to do a lookup for these Catchpoles it would be much appreciated :)  Many thanks in advance :)

Durham Lookup Requests / Re: todds byers green

hi Neil,
I've been quite curious about the posts on Christopher Todd and Sarah Willey.  I've been researching the Willey family and tracing descendants down from the top of the Willey tree, rather than tracing descendants up the tree.  I can only find 4 sons born to Christopher Todd and Sarah Willey: Jonathan, Thomas, William and Michael.  Christopher Todd died in 1789 and Sarah Willey married William Wright in 1793 and had 2 more sons.  Despite looking through a number of databases I cannot find a birth of a Christopher Todd in 1782 in Whitworth to Christopher and Sarah.  There is a Christopher Todd born 1782 to Christopher at Nutty Hag, but this is to a Christopher and Eleanor.  I was wondering if anyone has seen a primary source register that has a Christopher Todd b1782 to Christopher and Sarah in Byers Green, not Nutty Hag?

I have looked through the forums and thought someone may know about the Baptist Watsons of Brancepeth or nearby. We are stuggling to find Elizabeth Watson's birth (bc 1730-1740) - but her daughter Mary Willey born Circa 1771 has no birth record either, so we surmise they are Baptist as Joseph Willey b. 1730 at Land House, Lanchester seems to have been.
We don't know whether John Watson who was the witness at the wedding at Brancepeth in 1763 was a brother or father or relative, but he is a lead!  We would be glad for any links to info on Baptists named John Watson in the Brancepeth area. Thankyou!
