Hi

I have received further information from the Sheffiield Archives concerning 24 Woodstock Road for the 1936-1937 electoral register which has confused things even more.

John Lockwood
Ellen Roberts
Rhoda Jowett
George Pickup

By the register for 1938-39, the names are Rhoda & Cyril Howard only.

Cornelius is still listed at 28 Woodstock Road in 1938-39.

So 28 Woodstock wasn't the answer I thought it might be....

We received the PDF for the Will and Grant records from HMCTS

The Will is from 1978 and appoints his wife as the executor. The address is in Galway....

The Grant relates to the 3 December 1999 but is dated in 2007 and for an address in Radcliffe. It grants the administration of the estate to a name we don't recognise....

Thanks Margaret. I have been in contact with the Ecclesall library but they don't hold those kind of records. They suggested emailing Sheffield archives and so I'm now waiting to hear back.....

In the meantime, I have dug Rhoda's marriage certificate out again, and her address on that is 24 Woodstock Road in 1937.....and I've found Cornelius still at no.28 in 1925.... Hoping there is a connection

After yesterday's help, I've been able to make sense of the Jowett family details :), there are various addresses but none that match Rhoda's birth certificate. I guess it does make sense that Rhoda would be with Cornelius and his family at Woodstock Road, wish I could confirm it as I know my mum would love to know Rhoda was with close family.

Searching online for baptism records for Rhoda but no records as yet. Baptism records are a new search for me so I'm not sure how much I need to know to search further?

Thank you for all your comments. Much appreciated

Can't believe that the details I needed were there all along, just got too bogged down with the tree and hadn't made the Forncett connection.....

Now onto Rhoda's father, I will try looking for baptism records...

Thank you Rosie.

Rosie the address on Rhoda's birth certificate is 63 Tullibardine Road, district of Ecclesall Bierlow
We have been led to believe this is where the Jowett family were....

Just looking at the information above (blimey!) some of which I do recognise and have found in my research. I don't recognise the  John William Jowett details..... Shall be looking at that, thank you!

Ok , that would be fantastic
My grandma was Rhoda Jowett Stimpson born 02/01/1913, died 19/12/1994

Great grandma was Hilda Stimpson who was born 1892 in Sheffield and then later moved to Ireland with her family. She is on the 1911 census in Magherafelt. She died in June 1982

The Jowett in my grandma's name I am told came from the family she lived with in Sheffield but I have found nothing to back this up.

Hi

My husband has been researching and received lots of help, thought maybe I would try  :)
I would be grateful for any suggestions on tracing my grandma's father.

I have my grandma's birth certificate from 1913 but her father isn't listed.
She was born out of marriage and it was a topic that was not discussed. My grandma unfortunately died before I was old enough to have broached the subject and my mum was only given sketchy details. Basically, we have no information on the father.
My great grandma lived in Ireland but was sent to stay with a family in Sheffield for the pregnancy.  She had my grandma and then returned to Ireland. My grandma was then brought up by the family in Sheffield.
I believe this family in Sheffiled were connected to my great grandma but have been unable to make any connections or find any further  information.

Thank you for any thoughts!
