I'm Peter Cox, replying on behalf of Angelo Nardi, whose wife was a descendant of John Solomon, via his youngest son Gerald Stanley, who's the babe-in-arms in that evocative family photo. In fact he went on to have two families in succession, before and after WWI, in Canada, and then in Sudan and England. He was bigamously married for 30 years or so. He changed his surname to SOLMAN at some point. We have been in touch with a Judy Scott-Jacobs, who is descended from the Canadian family - who knew nothing about the second one until they started family history research.

Some questions for you all. Do you know why John Solomon the Taxman spent so much time travelling? Three children were born in Barbados, two in British Guiana, one at sea, and two in England (apart from the first two, born in Wilts)?

Are you, Briannicus and Douglas, and anyone else who has contributed to this thread, descended from John Solomon, and if so, how?!

Yours

Angelo Nardi and Peter Cox
