I have stumbled across your Posting in a general search for Mark Longshaw. The Mark Longshaw you are looking for is the great grandfather of my wife - Brenda Ann Longshaw.
Part of the family records we hold is a letter written by Mark Longshaw in 1930 where he records the names and dates of birth for his parents and records the maiden name of his mother - Ann Ikin who was born in 1826 in Nantwich, Cheshire, her father was a Charles Ikin. Mark does not mention the name of Ann's mother.
He records his date of birth as 10/12/1863 and that he is the tenth child of George and Ann Longshaw. He was married to Martha Hartshorne on 25 June 1883, Church of England, Mow Cop - near Tunstall, Staffordshire.
He records his father's name as George Longshaw being born in 1825 at Balls Bank near Kidsgrove. George was the son of Georg (sic) and Mary Longshaw.
Mark also has a brother, Charles Longshaw, born in 1852. As a result of my research I have been provided with a copy of Charles birth certificate. The certificate records his mothers name as Ann Ikin.
I am quite happy to share these documents if you feel they may be of help in your research.
As part of the Longshaw family records we have a family photograph album brought to New Zealand by Mark Longshaw. Other than Mark and his family - Wife Martha Hartshorne and son George Henry Longshaw we have been unable to identify the subjects of the family. Is there any Longshaw family repository of family history that may be able to assist in identifying the photographs?
