Mayo / Thomas BOURKE in Cloughbrack Near / Bofeenaun

Good evening,

I am seeking information on my great grandfather.

I know from my grandmother's birth certificate that her parents were Thomas BOURKE and Ellen MCNEELY. I am struggling to find any information on the pair. I have a photograph of Thomas' grave, which shows that he died in September 1960 and is buried in Bofeenaun Graveyard in Mayo.

I know from speaking to family members that they may have lived in Cloughbrack and that he was a farmer.

I have located a 38 year old Thomas Bourke as a single man living with parents on the 1911 census in that area, if it is the same person it means he would have been 87 at the time of his death, which seems to be an exceptional age for the time period, so I am doubting that it is him. There are other Thomas Bourke's in nearby towns.

However, I've also found an Ellen MCNEELY living in the same area, age 24 and single.

Perhaps I am just seeking a little reassurance that I am on the right track? It seems on Thomas' part to be an older age to marry, as most people around the time period would have married in their late teens or early 20's.

Could anyone provide any knowledge of where I might find a marriage certificate or similar reference so that I can get to the bottom of this and satisfy my curiosity?

Kind regards
