US Lookup Requests / Re: USA information available online?
« on: Tuesday 25 September 12 17:08 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Shelly, he was definitely born in Liverpool.  It's all a bit vague because my mother hated him because he left her mother with 7 kids and she said he was dead on her marriage certificate, which I know he wasn't, so if she'd told me anything it would have been very one sided.

He was said to be deported from the USA during prohibition and went back after but all of this is hearsay.

Thanks for your help.

US Lookup Requests / USA information available online?

What information  is available online for USA 1920's-1930's?  I am looking for my grandfather in USA during prohibition, believe he may have married and had children there, but don't know where to look.  I have a request for help on the immigration board.  HIs details are  Patrick Gill b 1885 Liverpool.  It would have been about 1923 when he first went to USA.

Thanks ,Shellyesq, He is Patrick Gill and was born Liverpool 1884.  He left my grandma when she was in labour with their youngest child (so the story goes) and went to USA, some say he went with a woman but not sure.

Any help gratefully received.

Hello,

I have been told my grandfather went to USA and worked as a bootlegger in the 1920's also that he was deported back to England (don't have dates) and that he returned to the USA after prohibiton.  not sure how to check if any of the above is correct.

Thank you Christopher,

I assume she was catholic as my grandparents and great grandparents were.  I will have to check marriages, but really not sure of spelling of surnames etc.

Thanks

Thank you but I don't think it's the same Rose Reilly - she was born earlier about 1848/49 I think.  Owen Reilly was her father, a farmer who had died by the time of her second marriage in 18 78

Looking for information on Owen Reilly, possibly from Cavan.  Had a daughter Rose who married Mr. Collinson was widowed and then married James Lynch, when she was 29 in Liverpool in 1878.

How can I check on all these names Reilly, Lynch and Collinson
