South Africa / Ships to South Africa from the United Kingdom
« on: Monday 03 August 20 15:25 BST (UK)  »
Good day,

i would like to know which source/site would be the best to get shipping records sailing from the UK to South Africa late 1800"s early 1900's?

What is the chance Germans travelled to the UK by land and boarded ships to SA?

Thanks

if she died in Africa then the FamilySearch link is wrong.

on her birth record there is a side notation saying she died in Greifswald in 1948

Dave

Thanks alot for your inputs , really hope i can still find her.

Hi,

Maria Elizabeth Wulff born 15 March 1881. She might have come with the Schutztruppe. she had her first child with my great grandfather 1901, so my guess is she arrived in the late 1890's. some stories is that she travelled from SA to German South West africa, or that she might have even been a orphan and at a young age send to the troops as i understand that also happened to assist and etc. really hit a brickwall. thanks

good evening all,

hope someone can help me where to find shipping records for Germans specifically schutztruppe to German South West Africa( Namibia). Would be from 1880-1890's. My great grandmother might have been on one of the ships. Ships docked at Luderitzbucht and Swakopmund.

Thanks
