Thanks very much.   I found his medal file last yesterday and downloaded.    Can't quite get to Kew to look for the CRS 10 at the moment since we're in the U.S., but I'll note the reference and save for a trip.   :)

Sure -- His name was Arthur Broadfoot, born 19 April, 1927.   He joined the navy early in 1943.
We just got his seamen's pouch; that's where we saw the CR 1 card.  As we were researching more after receiving this we found mention of the CRS 10, but got no results searching for this on the National Archives site.      We're hoping to find out more about the ships and places he traveled during his time in the navy.
Thanks for your help!
Kim

Thanks for deciphering and the link, Stan.
So do you know if this would possibly have been a CR 1 card from when he first join the Merchant Navy, and was in the reserve pool before being assigned to a particular ship?

Hello,
Can anyone read this ship name?   It's on a CR 1 card, stamped 1943.
thanks very much,
Kim

This marriage took place in 1836, so you're probably right about the minister.  thanks!

Great- I'll try those contacts you suggest.
I have Christiana & John's census records 1841-1871, and she was born in Scotland.
Thanks, Victor

Thanks for looking up the marriage entry for me!   I'm so disappointed to not find at least her father there -- didn't know they weren't included in parish records.
Does anyone have any suggestions for other records where I might could confirm her parents?   I know that this Christiana was born in Scotland, and  I have a possible match for a birth record in Scotland, but really have no way of connecting that Christiana with the one who married John in Bristol.

thanks for the link.
I was hoping to discover the name of Christiana's parents.   That is, I thought her father's name might be shown on the parish record.   If the transcription on FamilySearch.org doesn't have that, do you know if that means it wasn't included on the marriage record, or was it perhaps just not transcribed?
