Hi, I've just received a copy of my grandfathers birth certificate and his mother was Martha Scruby who was a chamber maid in the Orwell Hotel up until his birth in 1898, Her address is stated Union work  house Nacton. Are there any exact photos of this work house , I have no photos,either of my grandfather or his family (only two one aged around 19 and one around 40). There is no father named on the birth certificate but Martha did go on to marry someone named Stanley A Carr and have four more children with him. My grandfather was brought up by his grandparents and probably never had any contact with his mother. I'm trying to piece together where and how she lived when she was and after she was pregnant. Arty
