Hello everyone who has helped me with the above.  I've finally checked out all the information you have given me but have been unsuccessful in finding what I was looking for.  My friend is deteriorating with his dementia so probably not much more help from him.  I have come to the conclusion that I can't go any further with this subject so am closing the chat.  I have passed on to my friend and his wife all the information given to me and they are very grateful and thankful.  I am now finalising their family tree.  I very much appreciate all the information I've received from you.  😀  I do have one more avenue I'm trying to follow up but through personal messaging.  Thank you so much!  Sincerely, Alice  ps Very soon I'll be able to do get on with my own family tree... 😄  White from Paisley, Scotland... originally Clan Lamont, Bute Island (paternal) and Hopkins/Jeffrey - Paisley & Ireland I believe.  Bye for now. 

Thank you re scams etc.  I also wondered about the amount and date - 1926!  I'm just about to try and get hold of my friend to find out if Bob remembers more detail.  His memory is deteriorating more than with older age but because he has vascular dementia .. similar to Alzeimher's.  The information he gave me was something he had put together several years ago.  He (Bob)  definitely was part recipient of the family estate through Winifred Goodhead marrying hihs great-great grandfather.  I'll be in touch with you all.  Thanks again.  You have all been so helpful!  😀 Alice

Thank you everyone - just wanted to acknowledge and thank you all for the information I have received so far. I have needed to do a bit of sorting and checking and will reply as soon as I can.   I have done the Alonzo Goodhead tree only as an extra to a tree I've done for very dear long-time friends.  The husband now has a terminal illness and they wanted to find out - if they could - some factual information about his inheritance through his great grandmother- Winifred Goodhead - who married Albert Nicholson.  Winifred was a daughter of Thomas Goodhead (b, 1857), a son of Alonzo.  They've not had much success in the past and asked me if I could help.  It's been a rather confusing exercise as my friend was told the inheritance came through a "rich widow whom Alonzo married".  I tried for information about these wives ((Mary Ann Garness and then Margaret or Mary Dilin or MacMahon/McMahon)  have asked for and did receive some helpful information but wasn't able to fully finalise it.  I just left it and finalised that chat.  I'm starting again, hence this new thread which seems to include information I can follow up regarding that.  However, as mentioned, the focus now is mainly on trying to find inheritance details. Am checking out all that information, some of which I have already through doing Alonzo's tree.  Your help is so much appreciated ..Thanks.  Kind regards, Alice

Thank you both very much for the information you so quickly sent me... I will check out the websites as soon as possible - I had no idea where to look so these are very helpful.  Also, I need to update information re Margaret Dilin.  From a very grateful fellow Rootschatter!
