Armed Forces / Re: Uniform identification and date Please
« on: Saturday 13 March 21 00:22 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for the reply appreciated.

Might be a silly question but when applying for a clasp and rose in 1932 did the soldier himself have to apply or could a next of kin apply on his behalf?
Still trying to narrow down his death etc..

Kind Regards.

Otherwise, as a WW2 soldier his service record is still held by the Ministry of Defence and can be applied for  https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records  His regiment and unit do not have to be known or indeed his  service number as long as there is a date of birth

Surely not. No British Army in Dublin in 1940!

Shaun, I didn't wanna say, incase Max had me court martialed.

Appreciate the help everyone 👍🇮🇪

Here's his marriage in 1940 in Effin Co Limerick.

He's a soldier in the Irish Army stationed in Dublin.

That's the only info on him as a soldier they have.

Thanks for the time and reply.
Much obliged.
