Thanks all! Really appreciate what you've done! I wasn't the one to scan the photos and my aunt has lost the original photo so I'm afraid that's not possible :( Thanks for all your help though! I especially love the coloured one, made my gran smile :)

Thanks so much! Does anyone know if there is also a way to sharpen the photo? (It may not be possible).

This is an old photo of someone known to me as Auntie Dorothy (woman in middle) who is actually my Grandad's Mum's cousin. I believe the older woman on the right of the picture is Ann Ellen Hine (maiden name Bennett) and the man on the far left is Dorothy's husband (George Hayton). I assume the timing is around 1930s/40s given their ages. If anyone could restore it a bit I'd be really appreciative?

Ahh Pennines that makes much more sense, and is very possible!

I completely get your thought process Pennines, but I think parents of both Harold and Herry Carter are John Carter and Lydia (the address for Harold on Harry's death cert is the same shown for him and his mother Lydia in 1911 I believe).

This has all been a bit confusing BUT I think there WAS a Harry Carter born a similar time to my ancestor in Kendal but the father/mother's name (William/Sarah) doesn't match the marriage that was found by sgf and Pennines. I followed the William/Sarah Carter family through some censuses just to check but doesn't seem they had a son Harold but John and Lydia Carter did so definitely seems to all be falling into place! Just very odd coincident of marriage in Kendal and birth of different Harry Carter in Kendal :)

Yes! She died around then - no idea where but that seems to match.

Hi all! Sorry I'm a bit late to all this - hectic day at work BUT a very productive day for my gran. She rang me very excited as she's found lots of old family documents!! No marriage certificate but Gertie's birth cert. (father Joe Bennett like on the marriage cert). Also Harry Carter's death certificate - same one with brother H Carter as informant! Very odd that probate went to his brother because I know my Grandad's gran (Gertie) lived with them when he was a boy/well into his teens. Seems like we have the right couple! Thanks again to everyone that's helped there's no way I could've pieced this together!
