No nothing it wasn't a real adoption. There was an advert in the newspaper and records show who collected her just a name and address nothing regarding the birth mother unfortunately

I have the details of the adoption and have spoken to the family there is no DNA link to the adoptive family. We have possible names of the biological fathers line but im concentrating on the Mother for now.

I have the wedding certificate of the aunts brother marrying Ellen and living a few doors from the aunt where my nan went to live. The aunt said my nan did not need to know about her parents and that they had both died years before. I am trying to find out when Hugh and Mary died just to see if i can find more information, I know Hugh isnt the Father but wondered if he had died and she possibly met someone else?

My nan was adopted soon after birth but her adoptive mother died 5 years later so she was placed in a home. At the age of 13 she was collected by someone who identified herself as an aunt. We have since found out that she was not a blood relative but we believe that her brother was married to Ellen Diamond, Mary Mullans sister hence being an Aunt.

Yes I believe that is the Mary we are trying to find out more about her father is on the marriage cert and her sister is a witness no ages though. I believe she was born  around 1886. I can't find her death registry anywhere or Hugh? I'm trying to see if that sheds any light. Thank you for responding

No father on birth cert says illegitimate.

In 1910 in the church of Dungiven, Limavady Derry Hugh and Mary were married Hughs father was John Mullan and Marys father was Daniel diamond and mother rose ann Diamond. I have recently recieved DNA results and have found links to this family. I am finding very little information on what happened to hugh and Mary and would love to find out what happened to the couple. My nan has a birth certificate with the name of her mother being Mary Mullan and we know we have dna links to her side of the family so are wondering if this could be our Mary?? We are not connected to her husband so wonder if he passed by 1918 when my nan was born? any information would be wonderful thank you.

Dear Aghadowey, i finally got my DNA results and I was well off with my mary mullan. But we do have dna links to the diamonds so your theory of Bridget Saunders being the aunt through Ellen Saunders nee Diamond I think was spot on thank you for all the time and effort you gave. So the saunders ended up being related only through marriage and not blood so not possible the brothers of Bridget were her father after all, again thank you for all your efforts xx
