I've been away, which is why it took so long to reply.

I'll follow up both Bernard and Catherine on the 1851 census, then I might try IGI for Catherine's family.

Irish records are a bit difficult, but oone can but hope

I will follow up the 1851 Census information, I have never found Catherine Gallagher on it, but I had to look on films and it was hard to know where to look.

It seems that either James was born before the marriage or his date of birth is wrong.  Will keep looking

Thanks Shirley, I can get access to 1881 census and will check it out.

He married Catherine Mitchell (my great -  grandmother ) in 1882. Will look for previous marriage

James Lively, born Stranraer around 1851 to Bernard Lively and Catherine Gallagher. Sister Jane ( Catherine ) born 14 January 1860 at Whitecrook, Old Luce Wigtown.

Have been unable to find on IGI.  Are there OPRs available for any other churches in that area??

1841 Census  David Morrison 20 and his wife Janet 20, with children William 4, Margaret 1 in High Street Lanark
Found marriage David Morrison and Janet Watson Lanark 1839.

Unable to find births of David and Janet, or children William and Margaret.  William born before marriage?
David's father William Morrison ??

Any information re Morrisons in Lanark very welcome.
