Glad to help, my Grandad John William did get money from sale of pub, he bought a motorbike with some of the inheritance. He still had it when he died in 1974, my uncle got scrapman to take it away, I bet he laughed all the way to the bank to be given an old Brough motorbike.

Hi
Anthony Oates Anderson was my Great grandad, he was married to Jane Emma Maria Ward in 1898.
He had 3 sons and 1 daughter, My Aunt Ellaline was born in 1908 or 9, Jane was committed to Durham mental hospital in June 1909 and died Jan 1917, we belive she suffered post natal depression.
In the 1911 you will find Ellaline living with her grandmother (Ward) and 2 of her uncles.
Anthony we understand was a good bare knuckle boxer and family stories won the pub (Stags Head) in a fight or used prize money to purchase it.
He died in Feb 1919 a victim of Spanish flu. The army discharged my Grandad John William in France so he could come home to look after his brothers. He could not take over licence of pub as he was not 21.
Probate was given to Jane's brother Edward, I am not sure if his daughter was back home when he died or still living with the Wards. I have contacted my cousin as he has Grandparents papers ect.
