Hi,  Found this thread of chat when researching Family History for my Great Grandad Alfred John Poulton.   I would be interested to know how I can find out more about the family business, can anyone tell me how?

Thanks,
Jenny

Hi Nesta,  Is is the 1891 Census that I think is correct that you want?

The 1891 Census that DCB gives is definitely right as my Great Granmothers maiden name was Edith Daisy Jones  Sarah’s 2nd child.  I can trace them forwards in time  but not back.

Possible for Sarah or is age out?

All b Dolgelly, Merionethshire
Piece: 4319, Folio: 56, Page Number: 11

1861 Dolgledr
John Jones   58 head, farmer
Mary Jones   48 wife
Cathrine Jones, 24 unmar, daughter
Sarah Pugh   2 granddaughter

Still with same family 1871 age 12

1841 has 3 daughters born to John & Mary. (Gain, Catherine, Laura) Maybe she was registered under Jones?

Any clues in her children names?

Cas

I had seen this one a while back age is possible for my Sarah but mystified as to the name Pugh in household of Jones’s.
Cas if you meant Sarah’s children’s names they are James, Edith, Lizzie, Thomas and Arthur.  Sarah’s Husband was James Daniel Jones, he was born in Lewisham not Wales.

Thanks David, beginning to wonder if she was born in Wales but all the census’s including the 1921 say she was.  Very interesting piece Nestagi sent but that Sarah was still living at home with Mum in 1891 while my Sarah was in London, got 1891 census with my great grandmother on as a child.  Guess this is the Tallylyn one you refer to.

Thanks All.  I did try to fine Annie Pugh the niece but didn't get anywhere.

Re birthplace for Sarah on nearly all Census's (one says Ireland)   they all give Wales as Birthplace.   My Mum seemed to think from family heresay that Dolgelly was  connection.

Hi Trish, yes her Maiden name was Pugh sometimes found with an e on the end but I have looked at the reference you gave me and think that  Sarah died in 1862.

OOPs Should have said Sarah Jane was born in Dolgelly, later moved and married in London.

I am trying to trace my 3 time Great Grandmother Sarah Jane Pugh(e).  From 1939 register and 1921 census her date of birth is narrowed down to June 1857 although previous census's make her slightly older.   I can't trace her birth successfully, think may have found marriage Cert but name is Sarah Anne father James Moses a Carpenter deceased at time of marriage in 1885.   I can't find any trace of James Moses.

Followed up a few other leads but so far nothing definite, can anyone help?

Jenny.
