Hi my nanny's side are all reeds and whytes. Alternatively sometimes recorded as reid or whyte.  My nanna insists it's whyte though.

My great nanny was Elizabeth whyte a romany woman who married a burgess. Her grandparents were reeds. All from around the hexham area or Scotland.

Hey thanks for ur reply.
Yeah i know the occupations etc through oral history. Alex burgess was out on a borstall ship age 13. He then got kicked out navy after a short time for stealing and fighting. He then made his money fighting bare knuckle down the farmers market on a Saturday.  Elizabeth often worked at the market stalls. Before that a fee of them were hawkers and a couple miners and platelayers.

I was looking more for people related to the reeds and whytes around that area.

Hi I just looking for anyone with reeds and whites in their family. Me great nanna was Elizabeth White, from a line of reeds and whites.  Great grandad alex burgess. The whites and burgesses were well known gypsy families in and around hexham. I believe some of the reeds had come down from Scotland but Elizabeth's side are definatly romany.
Elizabeth and alex born in the 1890s.
