Another possible.

Patrick CRANNEY to Jane LAMPSON
Patrick of Workington* and Jane of Camerton at time of Marriage.

A very hard family to trace and I feel for you.

Thank you Trish, they're very hard to trace. Its taken me 20 years to get this far on this branch. Other branches were relatively straightforward.
Many thanks for you help

Sibling of Ann and Mary??

1841 in Workington we have;
Patrick Cranny 63 Blacksmith born Ireland
Jane Cranny 65 born in County

Thats fantastic, thank you. I'll see what I can find out with that branch and post it up.

Interestingly a Henry MARINER married a Mary CARNEY 24 Dec 1832 Priory Church of St Mary and St Bega, St Bees
(FreeREG)

1851 Mary Mariner is born c 1813 Workington

Cant see a bapt for Mary either

Interesting, I wonder if she was a sister. I also wonder if Henry was Richard's brother.
Thank you for that.

I think we'd need a little more info to try to help

Was Cairney/ Keaney her married name or her birth name?
If it was her birth name what name was used for her death registration in 1873, Durham?
Her death record would likely show the name of her husband.

Boo

Hi
Cairney was her maiden name, her married name was Marrin (also spelt as Marren, Morran, Marin and Marriner). Her Husband predeceased her, and was named Richard. I haven't been able to find a marriage record for them. Ive checked Irish  and Scottish records and also looked for irregular marriages, without success

You would need to find a baptism record from church records, same with a marriage if pre 1837.

Who do you think she married and when?

Ann married a man called Richard Marrin (which has also been spelt as Marren, Morron, Marin or Marriner), but I can not find a marriage record for them. I have looked in Irish and Scottish records as well as English ones, and it would have predated Civil registration.

I'm looking for any help with tracing Ann Cairney who is my Great x3 grandmother, and was born in Workington in around 1815. She apparently had her first child, Patrick at the age of 13, and spent most of her life in Preston Quarter, Whitehaven before dying in 1873 in Co. Durham.
I've not been able to find any information about her birth or marriage as these are pre-1837. \any advice on how to get this information would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

Down / Looking for Richard Marrin (or Merrin, Marron, Morron)
« on: Tuesday 23 April 24 16:04 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me with looking for my great x 3 grandfather, who was born around 1811, I believe he was born in Co Down, and came to live in Whitehaven where he married and had children.
His name was spelt in various ways, and I would value any advice in how to trace his Irish roots?
I'm not sure if he is Roman Catholic.
Many thanks
