Looking for descendants of Charles Graham & Agnes Lee who married in Dumfries in 1808. The family appear to have moved to Merseyside in dribs and drabs from about 1850 to 1865.

Thankyou so much, Maddy,  for the offer.     If you have time please can you look for a marriage of Peter Graham(e) and Margaret Dalgleish about 1780 at Edinburgh St. Cuthberts and/or their deaths about 1792/1800 also same parish.  Their youngest son Charles was baptised at St Cuthbert's chapel of ease in Nov 1792 but I have been unable to find any details of his parents other than their names. Any help very gratefully received.  Cath.

Just received OPR for marriage of William Strong & Eliz. Hughes.  No luck I'm afraid.  It just says William Strong & Eliz. Hughes and pencilled in afterwards it says Hannah (not Hannay). By coincidence the bride in the entry above is also Hughes.

Do you happen to know if the registers in Edinburgh are the original church registers from the parish, or were they transcribed at some time before being filmed?  If this is the case I might have to consider a transcription error.

Cath.

Many thanks again.  That's all the info. I've been able to find too.  It looks like I'll have to buy the entry from SP to see why the transcriber had a problem with Hannay/Hughes and if it def. says Eliz.  It should also say if the were "of the parish".

Hi,

OPR births for Dumfries May 28th 1820 shows MARY STRONG lawful dau. of William Strong and Mary Hannay.  She married Geo. GRAHAM  in Dumfries in 1836, was widowed in 1858 but I've yet to find her death.  It was probably in Birkenhead (Cheshire) where she had been living since sometime after 1861 census. The last mention I have is in December 1875 when she notified her son in laws death in Birkenhead.  I can't find her on any census after that date.

Thanks for help,

Cath

Thanks Jim.  My Mary Strong's mother was definitley Mary Hannay not Elizabeth Hannah.  Her siblings were William, 1817, Jean, 1826 and Robert Mcharg Strong, 1829. but the McLean reference might be worth me looking at.  George Graham's grandfather was called Peter who had a sister Violet who married McLean.  Thanks for your help.  Cath.

Looking for any information re  ancestors of Mary Strong, born Dumfries 1820, daughter of William Strong and Mary Hannay. She married George Graham in Dumfries in 1836 but I can find no other details about her parents.  I think I've tried all the obvious places for William Strong & Mary Hannay but maybe someone out there knows differently....
