Hello
Does anyone have any information on Thomas Crook ?  Born abt. 1788 Wiltshire, wife unknown ?  Most likley worked in the clothworker industry.  May have moved to london Abt. 1842.  One son I am sure about James born abt. 1820, Married 1842 to harriett Burgess March 1842 in London.  James was a Tailor.  James died abt. 1850 in Middlesex.
Son of James and Harriett Edward living with Family? in 1851 Census.

Hello
Thank You for the reply.  I believe that James was born abt. 1819 in Wiltshire.  I am still looking for Thomas Crook his father, born ? maybe 1788 Bradford Wiltshire{found Thomas 1851?} .
This Family is my main paternal branch.  I am always looking for information on them.  I have not been very lucky.
Thanks for the help.

Occupation Interests / Tailors Guild?
« on: Monday 05 December 05 21:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Would anyone happen to have any information on the Tailors Guild? :'(
I am at a complete standstill.  My 3rd G-Grandfather was a Tailor in 1842-50
London/Middlesex.  From what I can understand he would of had to been a member of a Guild in order to practice this trade.  But I have been unable to find information on this group.
PLEASE can anyone HELP

Hello
I have searched every BMD site on the web.  And have not found the death record of James Crook.  I know His last child was born Jan. of 1850 @ Tottenham England.  And James wife Harriett was listed as a widow in the 1851 Census.  I believe the 1851 was in March?  But still no Luck.  An elderly Aunt once told me James was killed while serving in the Military. She claimed this was the reason for the Families immigration to the States.
Is there a place on line where I may find military deaths around 1850/51?

Thanks Mary

Occupation Interests / Clothworkers Company

Hello
would anyone happen to have any information on the Clothworkers Company ?
My Paternal main Surname interest is Crook.  It seems several generations worked in the Clothworker industry.  My 4th Great gradfather Thomas is listed as a clothworker on his Son James Crook Marriage certificicate.  James is listed as a Tailor.  Is the term Clothworker a generic catchall for all occupations working in the cloth industry.
Also does the Clothworkers Company hold records.  Is the clothworker Company like so sort of union ?  Would everyone working in that field need to be a member ?
Any info would be helpful.
Mary
