I can't answer your question, however I did take note of the Cotton surname.

I have De Mirttre's from St Helier, Jersey in my tree. George De Mirttre b.1843 married Elizabeth Cotton who was born in Fawley,Hampshire.

If you are interested, please mail me and we can compare notes.

Hi Inchworm

Sorry I couldn't help you out.

As my family were from the Shaftesbury area, it would be interesting to see whether we have any similar name interests.

My interests are Wilkins, Dicketts and Garrett.

Best wishes     8)

Have a look at www.roughwood.net   ........ I haven't checked it properly but if you go to the vital pages index, you should be able to see the Donhead St Andrew baptisms.    ;)

Hi Inchworm

I'm researching the Wilkins family from the Donhead villages of St Andrew and St Mary. My main interest is my 6 x grandmother, known at this stage as Christian, maiden name unknown. She was born c.1745 and married Thomas Wilkins.

I will update you if I find anything that might be of interest to you.   :D

Best wishes

Hi Alamar

I'm researching the Coombs family from North Cheriton, Somerset.

I noticed your log and wondered if you had access to Genes Reunited website ?  I only ask as I have contact with several people who use this website, researching the Coombs family from the Bristol area.
I have received great info as a result.

I recommend giving it a go...it's cheap too.

Hi there

Re George Coombs b.1819 Gillingham, I'm afraid I don't have any info on him at all. I have no links at the moment to Gillingham either. Gillingham is very close to Cheriton so I wouldn't rule anything out.

The Coombs ancestors in my tree went to Newport via Alfred Coombs, born c.1857 in North Cheriton, Somerset. He married Mary Gould in Newport in 1873 and their son Charles was born 1874 in Mountain Ash, Glamorganshire.

Alfred was the son of Henry Coombs, born North Cheriton c.1832.

Hope this useful, always happy to share  :)

Hi SeaEagle

As far as I know I don't have a Coombs that married a Hancock, however  I do  know a lady who is following this particular line of enquiry.

If you send me a private message with your email address I will forward your details on. Strangely enough, she lives in Australia too.

If I find anything relating to your enquiry I will update you.

Hope this helps   :)

Best wishes
