Mayo / Re: Crossmolina Church Records
« on: Sunday 26 October 14 01:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Diane,
I have relatives from Co. Mayo.  Maybe a town outside of Crossmolina.  The names would be Martin Bryon (1805) father Patrick married to Mary ?  They have Bridget 1830-33, Mary (1836), Ellen (1839) and Margaret (1843).  They leave Co. Mayo to Leeds, England around 1847ish.  With or without Mary the mother.  She is not listed on the 1851 census with the family in Leeds.  Not sure where she died.
The other family from Co. Mayo is Anthony Nallan (1828-30).  His father is Michael.  Anthony is in Leeds by 1850.  I am not sure the Byron family surname is Byron in Co. Mayo.  Could possibly be Byrne.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Mary

Mayo / Where were the Flax Workers from Co. Mayo in the mid 1800's?
« on: Sunday 19 October 14 01:16 BST (UK)  »
I had family that were working in flax mills in the mid 1800's in Co. Mayo.  when the factories were closed in the 1847-1850 time period, a lot of workers emigrated to Leeds, England.  Would anyone know where in Co. Mayo these workers would have come from.  Trying to narrow down my research to these towns.
Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Mayo / Kneaphsey Surname
« on: Wednesday 15 October 14 15:24 BST (UK)  »
Looking for where this surname is common.  From my mtDNA, I found I am connected to a Bernard (Bryan) Kneaphsey/nefsey/neaphcy(b.1789) married to a Mary Moran(b.1805) in co Mayo around 1823-4.  They had a Terrance(1826), Patrick (1828) and an Ann(1831) for sure in Ireland.  Then they left for Canada in 1832.  Does anyone know how I would go about locating the place of births for this family.
Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
