I know you said you were not seeking new family but if this was me I would think about doing a Dna match just to maybe narrow down an area for your search as you probably already know James Gallacher is a very common name in Scotland

I dont know if this helps as I have not been doing much research at moment but when using safari search on my phone  I search
Inverclyde intimations initial of surname you are searching for example G as in (Given) and I am able to find the relevant pages with all names beginning with G

it is Monica but, I suppose someone’s family has to be last,
I have only search 3 of my grandparents so far and has happened with all of them, I think I may leave them until the new year and have a wee day out to Edinburgh to do a bit of research

my families seem to be last on the page
it is costing me 12 credits as I have to pay 6 credits for each page,,sorry rant over  ;D

it is a marriage cert dated 27th June 1870 and his parents are definitely
Matthew Dinan and Ann Malone
they were living in 29 and 32 Dalrymple street

I haven’t been doing to much research these days but looking at my Malone family again as couldn’t find then on 1911
I came across Patrick Dinan’s marriage
he married a Margaret Malone 1870 his parents are
Matthew Dinan and Ann Malone
Margaret’s parents are fathers name is hard to read ? Malone
mothers name is Catherine Malone m/s is blank

it may be worth asking Greenock Telegraph to print a little bit in the paper theres a possibility that ther may be still family living in Greenock/PortGlasgow who remember her running away or at least passed the story on down to another generation
