Antrim / Re: James Magee- Belfast

I'm sorry for lack of reply- didn't meant to be rude. It has been a long time since I have looked at family history information. I've had a few bits of contact via roots hat recently  and I'm thinking of digging out all my research this weekend. If I manage to make progress I will let you know. It seems like too much of a coincidence to have som any Magee/mooney connections appearing for them not to be related. Thank you again

Wow thank you for this and sorry for lack of reply. It has been a very long time since I have looked at family tree info. You have intrigued me. I want to get my research out again this weekend. This could be a relative. Do you have ancestral links to this club?

Tyrone / Re: Mary Martin, Born Co. Tyrone

Thanks for this!

Aghadowey, that was a wonderful find in the 1911 census. I hadn't noticed the younger kids living with their aunt. I guess this also confirms that the Hillsborough marriage I'd found previously (and so did kingskerswell... thank you!) is theirs. I love that town... quite delighted they were married there!

I did wonder why Peter was born when Mary was 13. This would be young even for those days so I assume you're right about him being married previously.

I'll keep looking into this, starting back into researching my ancestry after a years break. I'm pretty rusty!

Tyrone / Mary Martin, Born Co. Tyrone
« on: Sunday 05 June 11 23:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi there

I've just started researching my mothers paternal line. Her great great grandfather was Patrick Martin from Lisburn, Co. Antrim. He was born around 1857 and married a lady called Mary who was born in Co. Tyrone around 1866.

I know nothing about Mary and would love to find out more. I tried finding their marriage certificate on Emerald Ancestors to no avail.

The only thing I know is that they were living in Lisburn, Co. Antrim in 1911 census and had 10 children (Peter, Margaret, Mary, Patrick, Sarah, Annie, Teresa, Bella, Dominic & Joseph)  I would love any suggestions or insights!

Thank you

Antrim / Names from Glenavy/Tullyrusk area?
« on: Sunday 14 March 10 22:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there!

I'm researching my ancestors (Magee) who lived around the Glenavy area of Co. Antrim. I thought it would be interesting to post up some names associated with the family. They aren't necessarily direct relatives but are mentioned as witnesses in weddings & baptisms.

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows of the people below. They would most likely have lived in the area mentioned above!

Jane Lavery (alive mid 1800's?)
John Magee (alive mid 1800's?)
Robert Mulholland  (alive mid-late 1800's?)
Elizabeth Carion (alive mid-late 1800's?)
William John Wiggans (alive late 1800's/early 1900's?)
Minnie Mc Keoun  (alive late 1800's/early 1900's?)

Orphans named Roseanne, Louisa, Mary-Elizabeth, John Alphonsis & Felix Augustine (all alive late 1800's/ early 1900's

James Mc Cann (who died 20th July 1945)

Sarah Mc Grady & Edward Mc Gee/Magee (alive mid-late 1800's)

Elizabeth Lecky (who married Edward Magee)

Kingskerswell,

I actually followed this same thought about Felix and Ann Donaghy for a long time, however I then discovered his Father Felix and Mother Mary and realised they are the right people. Thank you for letting me know about it though!

Kanga,

Thank you for this. I'll hopefully get a trip to the newspaper library after christmas and see if there are any death insertions for this date. You're right though, it certainly looks about right. Thank you. I'll make sure I let you know what I find out.

Thank you both for your help! I had thought of doing it at home and I think that due to how many large images I have in my book, I'd really love them to be printed to the edge, which I cannot do on a normal printer.

I'll take a look at that forum topic when I get back from work. It looks like an interesting read.

Thank you both again,

Arty

Kanga and Kingskerswell,

I honestly cannot thank the both of you enough. I thought I had exhausted the records on Ancestry about a year ago and didn't think to look again. I'm wondering if the last time I looked, I hadn't discovered James' father's name yet and couldn't narrow it down... or else they have added to the records?

Either way, I'm amazed. This is definately my James as the address matches up and so do the witnesses to previous records. I can't get over finding this- thank you!!

What a wonderful book example! Very well done! I'm sorry for not replying for so long, I didn't notice I had replies. Thank you all.

I'm very close to the printing stage now, looking into more ways of printing it out. Thank you all again for your input!
