No I hadnt been able to get any further with this but unfortunately havent been able to pursue things much since for various reasons

Hi Shaun

Thanks for clearing up the Navy record
I did find that probate info on FS with the name James Douglas Montague and figured he must be a relative - I also found a poss m for him in 1895
I assume from what you quoted that it was Arthur who got divorced not James ? do we know when?
so perhaps Amelia didnt want anyone in Leicester where she had lots of relatives to know she was divorced in 1911 - less stigma to say you are widowed than divorced- just surmising

Hi louisa maud

I suppose it is possible if he were the one who maybe was in the Navy
an appointment to something in 1886 was mentioned earlier in the thread
the 1866 one would be 20
thinking about it there was also no info on him in the announcement of the wedding from the Southampton paper which might be of significance
lots of food for thought here

Hi Shaun J

I saw that info somewhere but decided it couldnt possibly be the correct one because Amelia Montague was listed as widowed on the 1911 census living back in Leicester with her father
I still need to find a more suitable death year for my Arthur W but have so far drawn a blank

Thanks, SC

Hi Carole and maddys52

Thank you both for the latest replies and all the information
I also had decided the best bet for the birth year for Arthur William was probably the one in Brentford
I will look into this a little further now

Thanks SC

Just a correction to the info I wrote in my last reply about Jane Lewin so as not to cause any confusion
It was Arthurs son Morley Lloyd Lewin (Amelia Jane's brother) who also married a Jane and she is the one who died age 29 after losing 2 very young children a year apart and leaving Morley with Arthur Henry and another Amelia Jane
This whole section of my Lewins has far too many repeated names to keep track of

Hi maddys 52 and louisa maud

Sorry I dont have any birth info for Arthur and so not found on a census yet

Thank you for the marriage details, pity it doesnt give any further info on Arthur
however I would be interested in the details on the Navy Appointment as it might give some more clues on Arthur

If you could send me a personal message with the details of Jane's death that would be appreciated I assumed she had died in childbirth -she was only 29 and had just lost 2 children
Arthur Lewin moved back to Leicestershire and re-married

Thanks so much

If anyone has access to the marriage records for Lambeth District I would appreciate some information on a marriage that took place in the Mar Qtr of 1894 between an Arthur W Montague and Amelia J Lewin
I cannot find them in 1901 and I have no birth or further info on Arthur
Amelia Jane was born in Finsbury in 1867, her father is Arthur Lewin b 1834 in Billesdon, Leics
The marriage may not have lasted very long as in 1911 Amelia Montague is a widow age 43 and living back in Leicester with her recently widowed father so Arthur must have died by the census date in 1911

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks SC
