World War Two / Re: OBE awarded 1943 - RAF
« on: Wednesday 29 May 24 16:03 BST (UK)  »
I don't think my friend know where he was in 1943 as he was serving with the RAF, he may not have given his medal until after the war had ended, He lived in Wales after the war, she has a newspaper cutting regarding he death with a lot of information, but not what he was awarded the OBE for unfortunately.

World War Two / OBE awarded 1943 - RAF
« on: Wednesday 29 May 24 10:53 BST (UK)  »
Hello Folks
My friend has found that her grandfather was awarded an OBE in 1943 while on active service with the RAF medical branch.
He served with distinction throughout the war.

She would love to know what he did to gain this award.
Does anyone know if and where any records might be found to give her this information.
Many thanks

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Great Wratting Baptism 1726 Enoch Martin
« on: Wednesday 12 April 23 10:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi Folks
Can anyone help please, I’m looking for the baptismal entry for Enoch Martin 1726 as far as I can find out he was baptised in Great Wratting, Suffolk,  I found an entry on Family Search, stating he was baptised 20th April 1726, but no parents were mentioned I searched the site for  the baptismal entry without success, I have the information for his marriage and the baptismal information for his children.
I also looked on Find my Past, Ancestry. the Genealogist
Many thanks

Cambridgeshire / Re: John Willis Baptism born 1855
« on: Wednesday 22 March 23 06:55 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you everyone the information you have have found,  confirms what I have found, the idea they may have moved was I one I hadn't thought of, so I have just been looking on FreeReg covering the years 1855 - 1870 just entering the surname Willis and looking at every record for John Willis, unfortunately there isn't one with parents Edward & Sarah, I will have to look at the other sites and do the same, it's going to take a while to do.

It does seem odd that some of the children have baptisms entered and not others, oh well the search goes on, I will tell my friend it's going to be a long haul.

Thanks again

Cambridgeshire / John Willis Baptism born 1855
« on: Tuesday 21 March 23 11:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Folks
I’m looking for a baptism for John Willis born 1855, GRO Registration Newmarket Sept ¼  3b 486 mothers name Crisp
Census returns give place of abode as Swaffham Prior Cambridgeshire
John is listed on the 1861 census
I have found baptisms for his older siblings from1837 – 1843 with one child baptised in 1867all are baptised  at St Mary Swaffham Prior
But I can find no trace of other children's baptisms in between 1843 and 1867
I have looked on Ancestry, Find my Past, The Genealogist, Family Search
Has anyone got access to the parish records for St Mary’s Church Swaffham Prior and have a search for John Willis please
Many thanks
