Hello rick

Once again thank you, this is the reason i have been trying to find my mother through her father, i thought if i could find him, i would find her, how many managers of hosiery mills/factories with that name could there be.

I will continue looking else where as you suggested, many thanks again.  If in the future i do find my mother and her family i will be back in touch, once again, thank you.

Kind regards

janney.

Hello rick

Thank you for taking a look at Hertfordshire for me. I have been looking for years now but so far no luck.  I have mothers marriage certificate and death certificate and it states that she was born St Albans and her fathers name was Arthur Edward Matthews,  manager at hosiery mill.  Do not know her mothers name as mother never spoke about her family, do not know if she had brothers or sisters.  I do not know where to look next.

Thank you once again

janney

Many thanks for trying to help.  On mothers marriage certificate it states that her father was Arthur Edward Matthews, manager of hosiery mill, my mother margaret matthews born St Albans 1907 she married my father in 1933 in Gainsborough. I cannot find birth for her so cannot send for birth certificate.

Once again thank you

janney

Do any of you know of any hosiery mills around St Albans 1907-1932 and if so a manager named Arthur Edward Matthews.  Thank you.  Janney65.

This is the first time i have posted so hope this correct.
