Northumberland / Edgewell Prudhoe Cemetery
« on: Wednesday 06 June 12 16:54 BST (UK)  »
I have found my uncle and he is buried in this cemetary..
I am in nottingham and my dad is in Australia so its a bit far for us to come, but when my dad comes over next we will make the trip up to see him.. but i was just wondering if anyone who lived close by may be able to pop in and see if the plot even has a headstone as if not my dad would like to sort that out (his parents put him in hospital and left him so we are not hopeful he has one..

It would mean a great deal to me and my father to know the situation..

The info I have is Stephen Michael Asbury buried in Edgewell Cemetery, Prudhoe, NE42 6JN.  The grave is in the old cemetery, section 2a, number 1721

Thank you in advance to any kind soul x

Shropshire / Recent(ish) Burial
« on: Saturday 12 May 12 17:27 BST (UK)  »
Hello you lovely people..

I am trying to track down the burial spot of my (half)aunties father.. Its a long story but the highlights are..
Lawrence Tennant - died 13 Oct 1971 aged 32 in a motorbike accident.. The record says Shrewsbury, Shropshire - but we have been told that the burial may have been in Telford.. My aunt was 3 months old at the time so has no idea where he is.. Her mother is not giving anything away.. I have tracked down some relatives for her and they informed us they came down from Durham and it they are sure it was Telford (along time ago of course)...

How do I try and find where he is??
My aunt was told by her mother that he has a paupers grave and no headstone - thats why she couldnt be taken there.. but his family were very strong Catholic family so I cant see that being the case??

Anyway ANY help or advice would be gratefully received.. I feel so bad that my aunt cant even go pay her respects to her father... She hadnt even seen a photo of him but I managed to fix that for her.. Now just this one last thing and she will be able to move on... xx

Nottinghamshire / Disease and Death in Nottingham

Just out of curiosity

I was just filling in some details on a tree and I noticed a couple had 2 children die 2 days apart from each other  :(

Gertrude died 24th November 1898 aged 4yrs
Florence died 26th November 1898 aged 2yrs

Seems so sad for that to have happened.. Was there any epidemic or anything in Notts at that time does anyone know?? They had another child that survived (and another 2 born afterwards)..
I know getting the certifs would confirm but this is a side branch of the tree - so im more curious if anyone knows of anything...  ???

I know there was the spanish flu but I am not sure when that hit..

Nottinghamshire / Strange Death Record
« on: Wednesday 11 April 12 09:36 BST (UK)  »
We have just got the death certificate for Thomas Mee who died 1886.. Trouble is the info that is on it..

I know it is the correct one as it lists Ellen Mee, widow, to be present at death. The place of death is at home, 8, Soudan Terrace, Wilford.
NOW COMES THE MYSTERY.
On this official certificate it states that he died at 8, Soudan Terrace on 15th June 1886. The cause of death is 'Pneumonia, one week, certified by Mr Hunter M.B.' but the death was NOT registered until the 17th December 1886

Can any of you think of any reason this death would not be registered until DEC when he died in June???

I have a right fiddly one..

Joseph Bernard Scarle married Ada Elizabeth Brown in 1905 in Langley Mill (Basford District.
On 1911 census he is living in Heanor with wife and kids - which says he was born 1879 in Leicestershire.
He died 1927 in Heanor aged 48. (as Bernard Scarle)

So far so good yes?? Well where the heck was he before that??!!
There is no sign of any Joseph Bernard Scarle on any other census records and NO birth record for that name or anything like that..
What am I missing???

That actually could be right then... I just looked at my info and I got the year of birth from census records BUT.. two different years on the records he appears on.. 1851 says 1792, but 1841 says 1801... I just used the 1851 date as I assumed it would be more accurate than 1841, but maybe this isnt the case at all..
