The Common Room / A picture from my student days 40 years ago
« on: Saturday 28 May 05 14:24 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to identify the people in this photograph. The location was the photographic department of Ealing Technical College .The gentleman middle front is Charles Frazer  as for the others any help in identifying any of them will be a great help  {   1960 + or - 3  years  }   Perhaps the following surnames may strike a cord Mac Dermot, Matherson, Farnfield ,Balcombe,  Pratt, I know the name of the Nigerian and his name was Aladipo McCauley.
Filling in a few of my life's events with  a little detail is proving quite difficult  when memories are rather faint.
many thanks

The Common Room / River Severn Drownings
« on: Tuesday 26 April 05 17:59 BST (UK)  »
Several members of my wider family drowned in a boating accident in the River Severn in the early part of the last century.   Unfortunately I have more than one surname that these victims may have gone under.   One of the names is Snow, the next is Kelsey then Carey and finally Stroud.    They were all part of the same family, the mother having been married a number of times.     The only possible forename I have is Lilian Daisy...probably Stroud, but as I have indicated, it could have been any one of the surnames previously mentioned.
Any information or advice on how or where to look for reports of this event would be appreciated.  I have tried Googling for River Severn Accidents&deaths and come up with nothing that fits my criteria.

Thanks
Regards   David.

Hi Nancy,
Many Thanks   , you  have certainly given me a line to follow.
The George & Caroline marriage appears to be my grandmothers wedding, it looks right  and I will send for a certificate . to confirm the family connection.[]

A point in passing,,,, My grandmother was not Lily Kelsey, she was my mother.
No matter the information you have given me is very much appreciated and a positive step forward.      I will let you know how I get on.
My mothers family never kept records not even a family bible I have often  wondered why but perhaps I may find the answer by tracing their history.

Wiltshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Byrchall Family of Wiltshire
« on: Friday 26 November 04 10:34 GMT (UK)  »
Dear  Cardiff, Nell  & Kris
Many thanks for your prompt and informative responses
I wish I had had the opportunity to pick your brains 18 months ago. The information you have given me confirms my own research with additions  Edwards 1840 marrage. I will send for a Marriage Certificate to authenticate the information and perhaps extract further info from the document, witnesses etc.
Ann Byrchall is totally unknown to me but she will be researched, perhaps she is a sister to Edward?
The Budden Marriage is also new to me.  It's interesting  as I have a certificate  for another wedding for Edward Butler Byrchall containing a reference to Edwards occupation as a BUTLER.  The Ladies name in this case is Anne Atkins Married !851  Hanover Square.  I have found no other references to either of these spouses but I will keep looking.
Edwards marriage to Teresa  my great grandmother . She is well documented up to her death.      Edwards daughter Lucy  probably married a Michael Kirby  but  details of the marriage are missing. Eliza, Edwards other daughter is my grandmother.
It is possible infact highly likely that there are other children or he was not the man he appears to have been .     Possibly 5 wives  it's unbelievable
I am left with tracing Richard, Edwards father and the family connection with Wilton
{Milton does not exist  M and W just look similar } Researching !760 to 1870 .
Richard is stated as farmer  on one of Edwards Marriage certificates
however  the parish church records for Wilton do not contain references
to a Richard Byrchall.   However the name Edward is mentioned but it is not MY Edward.  The period 1760 to 1870 is of most concern to me.
That's It Friends,       I will look up the Moonraker site Thankyou Cardiff
I hate these nicknames but sadly they are necessary.
Thanks again
