The Common Room / Re: Waterlow & Sons (Printers) UPDATED 20/11/11

Hi,  Just seen the posts about Waterlows the printers.  My grandfather Frank Alfred Parish worked for the company, I think as a Clerk but know he was a good artist - I have a lot of his drawings now.  He retired when he was 80 and died soon after in 1958.  Do not know when he started.   I believe his younger brother Frederick worked there as well for a while but he went to Canada in 1907.  Anyone know if there are personnel records still in existence.  Many thanks.

Hi Mark,  The Charles Ade and Elizabeth Bodle you mention were the parents of Charles Ade(Baptised 1870) (who married a Catherine Pocock) of Milton Court Farm.  This Charles Ade was my husband's g g grandfather.

Not all the daughters of the Ade families were followed up on the family trees we have, but do some more searching later.

To: Mangrovian  I would be very interested in the info you have on James Ade of Barcombe,  I can see if he is mentioned on a large family tree we have.   Thank you.

My ultimate aim is to find out how the grandfather of George Ade(famous American Writer) who was a John Ade who married an Esther Wood(in Lewes) is connected to our family tree.
Will post dates later.

Hi, This is the Robert Parish I am looking into.  I just wondered if he was a woodworker when I saw the entry, as his father had been a carpenter.   Are there other records for passengers on these lists to say where they had lived in the UK?  Just wondering so I could see if it is the correct person I am chasing.

Thank you everyone for the replies to my message.

My husband's Ade family have been in Wilmington, Alfriston Rodmell, Lewes areas of East Sussex since about 1400.  Just wondering if there are any other Ade descendants out there that I have not been in contact with.  My husband's family are descended from Charles Ade who used to live at Milton Court Farm, Wilmington.
Charles, Gregory, John, Catherine and Thomas are the christian names that have been used many times in the Ade family.

Hi everyone,  Has anyone any idea of where in Stoney Creek there may be records of new people who lived there from 1907. Did new residents from overseas have to register.  I want to check if a Robert Parish(born 1887 in UK) ever worked there.  I have not been able to find him on a census in Canada.  He is not on the UK 1911 census.
