Sussex / Kenward Marriages in Lewes and Brighton
« on: Thursday 04 June 20 18:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello
Please would anyone be able to give me any further information on any of these marriages:
Amram Thomas Kenward married in Lewes in 1868
Amram Thomas Kenward marrying for a second time in 1880 in Brighton
and
Enoch Ornan Kenward married in 1881 in Lewes.
Dates and places of the marriages would be great, and especially any names of parents of the spouses.
Amram and Enoch were brothers, and I've got details of their parents (John Kenward and Harriet Wenham)
with many thanks

Thank you for those really helpful comments.  From those it is clear that Joseph married Ann Paulson, baptised 18 Aug 1822 in Baumber.  But I'd still really like to find a record of their marriage.

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Joseph Keetley born 1825 - Marriage Record
« on: Saturday 02 May 20 17:36 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find a record of the marriage of Joseph Keetley born in 1825 in Southwell, son of Henry and Ann, to an Ann somebody.  They appear in the 1851 Census and in later ones, Ann was born about 1822 in Baumber, Lincolnshire. They presumably married between 1841 when Joseph was single, living at home with his parents, and 1847 when their first child was born in Southwell.
I cannot find any possible marriage for Joseph in the Civil Registration Marriage Index 1837-1915. Can anyone help please?
Thank you

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Southwell District Marriages 1838

Thank you so much rosie99 for your very quick response - it's good to have confirmation that this marriage took place in Oxton - and thanks for giving me date and  name of the church. And thank you too emeltom for the Census info.  I have traced them through all the Censuses until they died - but wasn't sure if they were "my" family or not. Thanks to both

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Southwell District Marriages 1838

Hello
There is a marriage listed in the Birth Index for Southwell in 4th Qtr 1838 for Mary Baines to William Childs in Southwell. I'm trying to discover if this was Mary Baines b1819 in Oxton, father John Baines b1798. Can anyone tell me if the Baines/Childs marriage took place in Oxton?  I've found marriage records in Oxton upto 1836 - but not for 1838.
Thank you

Nottinghamshire / Re: Marriage of Sarah Jane BOUSFIELD in NEWARK
« on: Thursday 28 October 10 12:29 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for your post.
Yes, it is that William Gambee Strong born 21 June 1819 in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada.  He became the Hon William Gambee Strong and was buried in Prince Edward Island, Canada.  I don't have his date of death though - do you?
He married Sarah Jane Bousfield on 8 September 1842 in Newark, Nottinghamshire, UK.
As far as I know they had five children:
Frederick William born 14 October in Newark
Louisa born 1849
Charles Edward born 2 January 1852
Mary Allison born 30 November 1860
Henry Pope born 1862 died 25 February 1926 aged 63

If you have any further information about any of them I'd be very interested.
Many Thanks

Kent / Susannah Matilda Wilcher nee Frost
« on: Saturday 22 May 10 21:03 BST (UK)  »
Susannah Matilda Frost married Francis Henry Wilcher in 1876 in Dover.
I believe they later separted / divorced and both re-married.
I have them both living together in Woolwich, London in 1881 Census, and have found them living separately in the 1891 Census.  Francis is in Chelsea, London.  Susannah was living in Charlton, Dover.  Interestingly no-one is listed as head of the household.  She is describe as Aunt and Married.  Her nephew Albert Smith is there, he is the son of her sister.  And the third and final person in the household is a William Booth, described as Uncle and single - I cannot link him into the family as I have it all. ( he was born in 1850 in Newark).
Now in 1901 I have Albert living in Dover with a Susannah Booth. Her age and place of birth match with Susannah Wilcher.  Also I can't find a death record for Susannah Wilcher, but I have got one for Susannah M Booth.
Now I expect that Susannah Wilcher married the William Booth she was living with in 1891, BUT I cannot find a marriage record.  I think it is likely that they married in Dover between 1891 and 1901.  If they were married before 1891 I would have thought that would have been reflected in the Census record.
Can anyone find a marriage record for them? Or something that disproves this theory!
Thank you

Sussex Lookup Requests / Winifred Aimee Kenward 1897
« on: Tuesday 09 March 10 22:01 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for the baptism record and burial place of Winifred Aimee Kenward.
She was born in Lewes on 29 August 1897, parents Walter Amram Kenward and Winifred Mary Harris.
I would have thought she would have been baptised in Lewes.

I think her middle name was Aimee, but it just might have been Annie

Her death was registered in Jan/Feb/Mar 1900 in Lewes - she died aged about 2 from diptheria.

It would be lovely to know where she was buried.

Lots of members of her extended family are buried in Lewes Cemetery - but I have yet to locate her.

Many thanks

Thank you all.
Yes I've got the family in 1851, and most of them in 1861 (RG9/72/5/5), but after that date can't find any of the children.
Yes I've already discovered the geocities website, and found much interesting information there.
However I'm still looking for Frederick's children.
Many thanks to you all
