Hi Tatt    Many thanks for your info
Re sarah Ann Hardy, Edwin's wife.... Story goes that she died when her bike was in collision with bus in Keyworth area.  Date not known.

RE Father of 14 Charles Braithwaite... Was born 1846 Charles Saxton, son of Sarah Saxton.  She married 1850 Wm Braithwaite & Charles took his name... but christened all his 14 "Saxton Braithwaites"  A tribute to his mother who died 1854!?!

Thanks again

Hi Carole W   Many thanks.

Your info has raised my hopes.... and yet more questions!

Who was this William Girvin?  Where was he in 1861?  And where were Mary Ann & bWilliam in 1871?

If these questions remain unanswered. then perhaps I should send for marriage certificate, which should tell me whether it is the same Mary Ann.

Cheers    hound

Lancashire / Margaret Ann Wilcock of Manchester
« on: Friday 05 December 08 16:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Margaret Ann was born in Beswick, Manchester on 17 February 1864.  Father unnamed, Mother Mary Ann Wilcock, b 1844.
In 1871 Census Margaret is to be found with her grandparents, James & Ann Wilcock.  She is listed as their daughter, not grand-daughter.

I cannot find Margaret in 1881 Census, although her grandparents are still there.  (Family rumour has it that she travelled to Europe (Germany?) as servant to a gentleman and his two young sons.)

I know that in 1887 she married a widower, George Poole of Stoke on Trent, had 6 children and lived to age 95.

Questions-
1 Where was Margaret in 1881?
2 Whatever happened to Mary Wilcock, Margaret’s mother?
3 What happened to Margaret’s grandparents after 1881?

Grateful for any help

Hi   Thanks Jill, BG & bigjon.

The William Braithwait I am after is the man who married Sarah Saxton of Smalley at St Werburghs Derby in 1850.  Hus father is listed as Thomas.

I have an IGI Individual Record ... Wm Brathwait ch. 31 July 1808 Basford.... Father Thomas.... Mother Sarah.

Also I have now found an IGI Family Group Record
Husband Thomas Brathwait b c 1783 Beeston Nottm Married Elizabeth Rowland (c 1787 Beeston)  17 April 1808 at Beeston.

The latter now seems more plausible.  Using BG's info Wm had a sister Priscilla.... and named his only natural child Priscilla.

Tenuous really?
What a dilemma!!  Yes Bigjon, This Wm could be a brother of your Charles.  Not sure!

Thanks again      hound
