Very belatedly, thanks indeed.
Can I ask if anyone is able to locate Sugarfizzle or assist with this request?

Thanks very much, Moira. No offence taken!  :)
Am new to this - and understand it is not easy to obtain certificates etc from National Archives.
Will attempt to obtain Rebecca McGregor's birth cert. Now think it likely that her father Peter was not born in Cape, but had immigrated from UK.

Not sure why a sarcastic reply - or intended humorously??
Had thought there was some specificity in referring only to one Scottish family name in 1800s ... Have not located any McGregors in South African genealogy sites to date, and thought it unlikely anyone would happen to have info on the particular individuals of interest, so decided to "cast net wide" to find any ancestors.

However - People of interest:
Peter McGregor and his wife Mary Ann nee Bright, in Cape of Good Hope around 1860.
Their son and daughter, both born Cape of Good Hope: Rebecca McGregor (born 1863 or 1864), and Peter McGregor.
Also Richard McGregor and wife Elizabeth nee Taylor, in Cape of Good Hope around 1860.
By 1883 all of these people had left South Africa. They may have been miners, as they moved on to goldfields in other countries.
Appreciate any assistance, thanks.
