Inverness / Highland Memorial Inscriptions website
« on: Sunday 21 May 23 18:30 BST (UK)  »
I’ve not had time to do much research over the past couple of years and am trying to get back into it now and wondered if anyone knows what happened to the Highland Memorial Inscriptions website please? It was an incredibly useful resource and I used it often to refer to, even if I didn’t always ask for the photos.

I can’t find it anymore and seem to remember the person who had it used to post here sometimes. Ghost Whisperer I think was their username.

Thanks.

The clan Maclennan genealogy website? It is a subscription website for £14 per year.

The Clan Maclennan website has an entry for Roderick and Ada with info submitted from a grandson of Jessie; Roderick Duncan Maclennan was born around 1870 in Inverness-shire and died around 1925 in SA. It also says he met Ada on the ship on the way to SA.

There is no other info for Roderick but there is a death notice/certificate for Ada with address dated 25th August 1937. There are also only four children listed for Roderick and Ada and you mentioned seven and no documents for Roderick, there are possibly errors in the information. (There is a marriage certificate for Jessie dated 1926 but you may already have this info).

Although not Inverness-shire, if the middle name is correct, there is a Roderick Duncan Mclennan born in Avoch, Ross-shire in 1876 (scotlandspeople: MCLENNAN, RODERICK DUNCAN, Male, 1876, 059/A 27, Avoch) but he seems too young to possibly be married and had a child by 1889.

There are a few other Roderick Duncan's born around that time but none have the surname Maclennan.

I hope this helps :)

Possibly nothing, as it is nls maps they open. I suppose it's what I've got used to and I find the user interface good to use for me.

Thanks Agneshill, I was going to mention that but forgot. Warden street was another that was demolished and Grant street has very few houses remaining, although it is still there.

(Oldmapsonline.org is a great free resource I use frequently).

Just to throw something else into the mix -

Weston isn’t/wasn’t common in the Dingwall area. In fact there’s only one appears in 1911 in the whole of Ross and Cromarty and her name is Constance. She is 11 years old and living in Resolis (not too far from Dingwall). I haven’t opened the census to see who she is living with but she marries in Kiltearn in the 30’s to a Charles Fraser (son of William Fraser and Annie Macdonald). She died in Dingwall in 1965.
Her headstone can be biewed online:

It might be unrelated but I thought I would mention it...

I have sent them an email (and a pm on this website) so hopefully they’ll see it and something will be sorted soon.

I know this is an old post and apologise if you already have this information but I have a copy of John b1837 death certificate and maybe some other info too. His parents were John Fletcher and Ann Merson.
