Thank you for your message, Puffcat. I had forgotten to change my e-mail address, so the message did not come to me and I only found it by chance. I am so grateful for your input here and will contact the Register Office. Many thanks.

Hi, I am interested in this, as my great-grandparents were married in 1864 in "the Roman Catholic Chapel in the District of Weobley". My gr.grandfather lived"near Pembridge" and his bride was a servant at Broxwood Court. Quotes are from the certificate. I wondered if the marriage took place in The Chapel of  the Holy Family, which is now a private house. I am trying to find in formation on this through Herefordshire Archives.

Sorry, I have somehow not been able to attach the photos. Will try again.

Please can someone date these two photos and possibly identify the uniform the man is wearing? They came to me via e-mail a long time ago and I cannot remember who sent them, so cannot find out more about them. I have another photo of a small child belonging to this family which says Arthur Squibb, Tenby. The one with the man seems to have rounded corners.

Hi, Oopsy, I found your message quite by chance, while "Googling" something else, and was intrigued by your John relatives, especially the "David John  c 1765 - 1838 married Elizabeth Bevans".  I have John ancestors, but in Glamorganshire. However, a possible ancestor, Morgan John, married a Charlotte Bevan in 1818, at St. Mary Church, Swansea. It was the coincidence of the surnames which caught my interest.  I don't know whether or not there is a connection somewhere along the line.

Thanks, Ermintrude. I have found what may be the sister's death and will send for the certificate. It may give us some clue.

The Lighter Side / What happened to them?

My father-in-law apparently said very little about his early life. We knew that his parents and a younger sister died when he was young and that he went to live with "an uncle". End of information. Imagine our surprise when on the 1911 Census, we found that there were two other younger children. The parents died in 1911 and 1912 and one sister in 1913. What happened to the other siblings? There is no way now to find out. Did someone else love them and give them a good life? I hope so.

This has been such a treat - reading all the family anecdotes. Thank you everyone for giving me such a good laugh.
