« on: Monday 01 February 10 20:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Spark

I uploaded my tree via gedcom file to My Heritage, it produced a colourfull tree, which generated lots of statisics charts. BUT the e mails i was getting was nothing to do with geneology....... !!!! dating stuff.
Plus the offer of a My heritage tool bar.....It started to overpower my pc. if you see what i mean.
Enough was enough.... I deleted all connection with My heritage.

 I hope this helps

Census and Resource Discussion / GRO .....Refund ?? !!!

Hello readers

I have been trying to find out more on my grandfather  ( Arthur Charles Nevitt ), information being very thin i requested his marrage and death certs on line direct from GRO. I gathered all the information i could.

I supplied his full name, the dates of both events, both places and all importantly the volume and page reference
numbers... i paid my £14.00 all via the comfort of my house.

Now i find i have received two E mails from GRO stating my "certificates will not be produced as the additional forename is not Charles". The fee for checking the reference is £3.00 per cert.   £6.00 total.

I looked at the entries myself stating   it states......    Arthur C Nevitt....

I have been penalised for providing too much information it seems..... If i have given them all the information required plus a bit extra, is it right they can reject, charge and expect me to reorder deleting       Harles fro the
name of Charles    ??????

Thanks chaps.

Pete, as far as documents go... My grandad died in 69. My father split from mum before then. All i have is fading memories and fragments of stories in my head, This is why i am having a hard start. BUT my gut tells me there is a story to be told,
My natural urge to "do my bit"  and Join up seemed to be a built in feeling...From him maybe ?

Andy. Thanks for the link...I have registered and will soon post a request. Just waiting for the confirmation E mail.

The more dead ends i come up with, the more i need to dig more and more.

Thanks   Andrew.

Hello all

Can anyone throw any kind of light on my quest..?

My grandfather, Arthur C. Nevitt Born 1911 in Birmingham. He died at the age of 57 in 1969. I was 7 when he died
so never knew anything of him. I remember he had a cap badge, what i now know to be a Grenadier guards badge.
He was, so i am told by my mum that he was in the Airborne division during the second world war.
I can recall a captured German helmet in his back yard. (he took it from a prisoner).

Can anyone give me a kick start please, Where do i start to find out about him, and his military carrier ?

 All the best    Andrew.
