I found this lovely photo in the bottom of a chest of photos inherited some two years ago. I wonder if anyone can also manage to identify the regiment of the gtoom, once cleaned up? Many thanks!

Thanks very much all. The subject is my great grandfather, born 1867! Perhaps he bought the suit 2nd hand? I gather that rag men sold second-hand clothes all the time and the majority of people bought this way, that couldn't afford new! Nevertheless, he looks smart and a good prospect! He had been a coal miner since the age of 12 and went on to be management. Maybe the suit helped?

Wow - someone else up at the crack of dawn! Thanks for your work on this photo too! I am, as always, absolutely stunned by the generosity of all who have the patience and dilligence to do such painstaking work! Thanks very much! I also take on board the comment about people collecting photos sent. I know, however, that this is a family photo, as I have certificates and other photos linking them into my family. So, I will dig deeper and see what lurks below.....
