Somerset Lookup Requests / SEALEY / SLADE - North Perrot / Haselbury
« on: Sunday 06 August 06 22:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I have the 1851 census which shows my ancestors Robert Sealey and his wife Elizabeth Slade.  Trouble is, I can't get any further back and the fustrating thing is that there are other Slades and Sealey's (lots of them) in the same village and on the same street at this time and I just can't connect them. Help!  Does anyone have any parish records from round this area???

Many thanks

Thanks for the info  :)
Both Eliza and Elizabeth are on 1851 census, but I am not sure who the mother is as on my ancestors birth certificate the name is Elizabeth Sealey which theoretically could be either of them.

There is no father but an old family tale that his mother worked as a servant for the real father who has not been named on the birth certificate.  He was 'added on' to the family and didn't know that his real mother was his sister  ??? ???  :-X

I don't think I will ever know who his real father was! Just trying to gather as much information as possible.

Thanks again for info!

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 census lookup GOTH

Thanks for the info. Some of the names look familiar on this list.  I was told that someone related was a methodist minister but I am not sure who.  It's possible that it's just some old family myth!

Thanks for the info on Thomas' parents it's really useful.  It's been difficult to get hold of as apparently they moved around quite a lot.

Many thanks

Thanks for this.  I don't recognise any names here but Goth isn't that popular so I have a feeling they will be connected somewhere.  Unfortunately I don't have the names of Thomas' parents, but the 1861 census might be useful too.

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Francis Smith 1851 / 1861 Notts pls

Hello

I am looking for Sarah Ann Smith who was born in Ollerton c1849 in 1851 or 1861 census.  Her father was Francis Smith but not sure where he was born.  She later married and became Sarah Poyser, and lived in Derbyshire (so it's possible they were living there too) but would like to find out more about her family.

If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.

Many thanks

Thanks for this.  He wasn't always a Methodist Minister, a lot of the family were farmers from Yorkshire / Lancashire so it could be them.

Thanks again

Thanks for your help.  I remember a reference made to Dent in Yorkshire on some of the documents, not sure if he was born there.  There is also a possibility that the name was transcribed incorrectly.
