Durham Lookup Requests / Local newspapers in Hartlepool
« on: Friday 12 September 08 18:06 BST (UK)  »
Could any one let me know who would hold copies of the local newspapers in Hartlepool in 1913?
And whoever holds them whether they would do a search to see if an obituary appears in any of the papers (I do have the death date).

If any one can pass on a web site/info that would be great thank you  ;D

regards

Hi Julie

Thank you for your message I think your big document would be a great help if you don't mind sending it.  Can you e-mail or would it be by snail mail?

Look forward to hearing from you and thanks again.

Hertfordshire / Re: George/Martha WARNER living in Redbourn Herts in 1901

Hi Susan

You say Fanny re-married, do you have that cert or is it what you know from the family descendants.

In the 1881 census the family were together, in 1884 Fanny Warner had re-married.  In 1884 Fanny has moved from Long Crendon back to Chelsea (where she was born).

I searched all the marriages between 1881 and 1884 for Fanny Warner remarrying and through another researcher discovered that she had re-married using the name Fanny Brown.  I have the marriage certificate.  I researched the marriages to see if Fanny Warner had married a BROWN between 1881-1884 but she hadn't.

Through the same researcher who is related to the Warners we discovered that the 2 daughters on marrying used the surname BROWN declaring their father as James Brown.

I believe that George Warner left Fanny, I don't think there will have been a divorce but I will try your suggestion thank you...........perhaps the shame? caused her to re-marry using a different surname?

thanks for your help and sorry for taking so long in replying I have just got back from my jolly holidays  8)

thanks and regards

Hi

Yes you have the correct Warner family in the 1871/1881 census, I also found the same James Warner in the 1901 census but he's not George's son.

I have searched IGI records, birth records and I have not found a George Warner birth between 1852-1856 in the Hertfordshire area or under the registration district that Redbourn/Hemel Hempstead falls under.  I think I have traced all the Martha's born between 1849-1853 and established that she's not from Long Crendon.

I think George Warner is born Long Crendon and Martha is from Beesons End Herts, I have made a half hearted attempt at searching for a possible marriage of George and Martha but as you know it's a bit difficult.  :D

Thanks for all your help any other ideas are sincerely welcomed.

Hi

Thanks for that I must confess that I have researched all Martha's born 1849-1853 in Long Crendon and traced them all through bmd's and census info.  I found Martha Cannon and her death in the 1870's.

George Warner (who is a descendant in my tree) was married and had 3 children and was in Long Crendon in 1881, by 1884 his wife had re-married using a different surname and given his 2 daughters a different surname (they also married using this different surname but through other family descendants they always claimed that they were Warners).  His first born son, who is also in the 1881 census has disappeared, can't find his birth or death.  I think that George and his wife separated and went on to lead different lives.

I have been unable to trace George in the 1891 census, I believe that the George Warner I have found in the 1901 census is him.  I don't think that he is married to the Martha that he is with and he has fibbed a little about the places of birth.  His age and occupation matches perfectly with my missing George Warner.

thanks again

Hertfordshire / George/Martha WARNER living in Redbourn Herts in 1901

Hi

I wonder if there is any one out there who can help me please?

I have found George Warner/Martha Warner in the 1901 census living in Redbourn Hertfordshire.

The enumerator has George Warner as being born in Beeson/Beston/Berton/Beeton Hemel Hempstead and Martha as being born in Long Crendon Bucks.

I have made 1 attempt at a marriage cert for the above couple but it was wrong.

I would like to know where abouts Besson/Berton/Beeton Hemel Hempstead is? Should it be Bearton/Beeson/Beston  if it is if a person was born in these areas, where would they state they would have been born in previous censuses?  I have been unable to locate George Warner or Martha in the 1891 census or previous censuses.  I don't think they are actually a married couple.

I look forward to any replies thank you.

regards
