Tyrone / Re: Fox - b. Dungannon 1909

hmmmmmm.....

Just shows that you can't even rely on what your parents write on their marriage certificates......

Thought 'Farmer' might be a little embroidered......

Received a full certificate back from GRONI - very quick service, especially considering it's Christmas.

Samuel Norton Fox   b 07.02.1909  Moygashel, Co Tyrone, Parents: William Fox (Labourer) and Elizabeth nee Campbell.

Still getting nowhere though - Moygashel is historically a linen weaving place near Dungannon ?....anyone any idea what parish/township it would have been in?    Better still .....anyone  able to generate via census etc any further leads for me ?

Got him !

Ferguson seems to  have been an 'invented' name - or at least not the one used on the 1871 census.

41 Eastbrook Lane, Bradford    a Horsekeeper  16 yrs.

Hi,

Just wondering where to draw the line with the above subject....

Fact: My Grandfather's mother was nee Stephenson - this was on the birth certificate of 1876.

An Eliza Stephenson married a Ferguson Whitaker (My GGrandfather's name) in Mar 1874 in Bradford.

An Eliza Stephenson was born of the parents John & Henrietta in Sept 1854 in Bradford

In 1844 in Bradford - a John Stephenson married Henrietta Sheard.......

Henrietta was born in 1822 - "Robertown" - Halifax ?

no contradictions so far, all tie in to any available census evidence....that I've found.

...do I go with this, or am I in danger of making it up as I go along ?

Wow !

Thanks for your rapid replies......where did you find them ?

That's Ledsam Street, Birmingham - they were still there in 1891 running a shop, we think - that's Mary and Margaret. Margaret later married William Whitehouse  and with whom had Percy John, my father-in-law.

Many thanks,

Chris.

Hi,

We've got a Marguerite Eliza Thompson Dutoit (Grandmother) - Christened 25.5.1868 in Boughton.

Parents: Jules Dutoit & Margaret. (Getting absoloutely nothing on Dutoit !)

We can't get another trace on her until  1891 census when she turns up in Birmingham, living with her Aunt.

Anyone got any leads/ideas ?

Chris.

Hi,
I'm looking for any details on my ggrandfather born Bradford 1855.

I have him married to Eliza Stephenson Mar 1874, and in the 1881, 91 & 1901 census - but cannot  find any birth details or entries for 1861 or 1871.

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciatd.

Thanks all,

Jane - I have contacted GRONI, who within 40 minutes of receiving my email, replied saying they could issue a certificate and because I already had a short one, it would only be £5
