also looked up the all saints marriage you mention and that states both john willis and Elizabeth coger were of the parish of st botolphs col , not much difference I know but thought I,d throw it in .

have you seen the christening record for a job demaine 30 aug 1779 in thornthwaite yorks is this probably him ? , also like you I,ve looked about for an emigration record but cant find one , thing to remember is that back in the early days most folk sailed to canada then went overland to the usa  a good site for  early records is THE SHIPS LIST they have quite a few listings but the only demaine I could find was for a B demaine IN 1831 .
sorry i cant be more helpful .

Armed Forces / Re: John Wilkinson. 44th Regiment. about 1846.
« on: Monday 14 May 18 11:55 BST (UK)  »
just found the john Wilkinson army no 3552 in world wide army index in 1851 he was in malta and 1861 Kowloon china , unless he had a benefactor I doubt as a private he would have been able to purchase a commission at approx. £1800 pounds  .

FindMyPast only has the b a worldwide index for him so presumably he didn't do enough time to receive a pension in which case his service record would have been destroyed approx. 20yrs after leaving the army .

ps as far as I know what you see on worldwide index is all there is to see
