does your Thompsett family come from Brighton Please.if so my great grand parents were James Thompsett born 1869 Lewes Married 1893 Julia Moon Born 1872 Brighton[later was Lipscombe James died in 1909],they lived Carlile street Brighton in 1901 ,Anyone else relate to these please ,James Had a brother Obadiah 1864 Lewes [Spelt Tomsett in 1881 census] Henry 1876 Preston Sussex,Emily 1872 Ellen 1873,also born Preston sussex,Many thanks Jan

that is then we are from the same branch,thats so good thank you its taken me sins november 2006 to get this info ,i wondered why they kept disapearing ,ive just e.mailed my cousin Nikki Thompsett she will love it ,she lives in Joberg South Africa,i told her about what you told me, James born to George and Emma also had a son James Joseph born 1895 [my and Nikkis grandad ] he had my uncle in 1930 called him James Joseph Thompsett and he emigrated in 1969,to SA,
now i can straighted out my tree ,i have also got back to1500 but there lies a mystery to were Hugois Tomsett born 1528 and silvanious related ,sorry you may have diffrent people ,but out of the 3,789 people i have in my tree ,George /Obediah has been the difficult one,now i know why ,
i was born in Portsmouth in 1947 so im a bit older than you,My middle name is Eileen [my mums name ]do you think our mums knew each other,my mum was born in Brighton1923,we had a fewNora and Norahs in my mums side my mum is Eileen Nora [nee Thompsett] ,
did the name Obediah come out again or maybe your Obediah names some one James ,as i told you my great grandad James 1869 named on of his  children John obed ,and that was around 1903,an obed iah died in 1903 could that have been 81 yrs not 18 yrs old ,and my great grandad named his sonds midle name Obed ,ether after his father or his uncle ,just a thought ,

my mums name is Eileen [nee Thompsett] born in Brighton 1923,her Grand Father was James born to George and Emma,he named his son who was born around 1903 John Obedin fact he had a few children ,sadly James Died in 1909,a lot of what you said with the 2 people you chated to has solved a lot of mysterys for me ,i had lots of gaps and Obediah seemed to be in 2 places at once ,so i think your right Georg was using this name ,i wonder if your a member of Geans reunited because i have my tree on there ,we could compare facts,George had a brother called Obediah ,infact there were a few Georges and Obediah in my tree,George was on my Great Grandads marraige cert as George Thompsett ,lived upper Lewes rd Brighton,,but the spelling of Tompsett changed a lot in the early days in this part of the family,but its keept to Thompsett in our branch ,are you a Thompsett child or related ,we obviously share Ansestory ,what was George [obediah ]to you ,he was my greatx2 grandfather,James my Great Grandad ,his wife and him[Julia Moon]had my grandad James JosephThompsett  in 1898,Brighton ,and he my mum in 1923, best wishes Jan[Thompsett child]
