Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Look up request - EMMA TOTT (STANDON)
« on: Wednesday 28 August 13 20:09 BST (UK)  »
Can I thank you all for your help - I shall pass this on and I am sure that any information on relatives would be welcomed as she has got a bit stuck.  She did say to me that she thought Emma might have been in the workhouse for a while - but not sure how I would start to check this out.

She is related to the Facey line, but she is really keen on any information.

Thanks a lot once again - Carole

My husband's aunt is trying to track down any information she can on her family.  She has found Emma Tott, born 1857 in Standon, Hertfordshire and any information on her and her family would be gratefully appreciated.

Many Thanks in anticipation - Carole

Thanks for all your help - I shall have a look into using ING - I have used the FamilysearchOrg bit of it but didn't manage to find out the information that you have supplied me with.

Thanks for that - it looks like it has cleared up part of the mystery.  We suspected that this might have been the case, bit it's nice to have confirmation.

Bedfordshire / JOY - Maulden
« on: Saturday 29 August 09 14:49 BST (UK)  »
Grateful if you could help me out.  Am trying to trace my family tree.  Have managed to get back to William Joy (born around 1813) who married a Sarah but I am struggling to find her surname so I can start tracing back on this side of the family.

Also managed to get back to William Joy (born around 1782) and Catherine Balls (and their 3 children - James, William and Ann) but then the trail goes cold again.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Many Thanks - Carrie

Family History Beginners Board / Moss’s of Caddington, Bedfordshire

Trying to trace my family tree and have managed to get so far but now I’m getting stuck.  This side of the family come from Caddington in Bedfordshire.  I have traced back to George Ernest (or Ernest George) Moss who married Rosa Chesham.  His father was William Moss and this is where is starts to get a bit confusing – I can find a Frances Na(i)sh and Elizabeth Moss both married to a William Moss.  George’s birth certificate (DOB 12/3/1877)shows his mother as Frances Nash.  The 1881 census also shows him with his grandparents (James and Mary Lake) in Souldern, Oxford.  However there are some missing pieces.

Can anyone shed any light on this?  Any information gratefully received.
