According to Free BMD, the following are births for Frank Tolhurst
Frank Tolhurst born Dec 1862 Tunbridge 2a 456.
In 1871 living with his brothers Frederick (birth registered as Fred) age 6 (born Wandsworth 1d 488 Sept 1865) and Arthur age 3 (Wandsworth 1d 520 March 1868)
I can find no trace of any of them in the 1881 Census and only Fred surfaces in 1891 married to Fanny with a son called Fred born 1891.
Frank Tolhurst born Dec 1863 Wandsworth 1d 433 – can’t find anything else on this one.
Frank Bourne Tolhurst – born June 1856 Gravesend 2a 248.
I cannot find a death for him or a marriage and cannot find him in either the 1881 or 1891 Census.
I have looked at other births and have managed to tie them into 1881 and 1891 Census returns which rule them out as Frank came to Australia in 1884.
I had a look at Passport Applications and found a couple of options. One was for March 8 1879 - but it looks like the initial is B. The other I'm not sure about, Sept 20 1883 – it may or may not be a Tolhurst. Not sure if you needed a passport back then to travel or if it was just ‘nice to have’.
Perhaps the above will help anyone else looking?
