Hi all one way of checking number change would be to check electoral rolls to see if someone still lives in a street, from one election to another. It would be that that person has not changed address  but the number has changed. A little tedious but one way to check.

Hi Ron
I have just come across this and what a great resource. I am with the Ballarat & District Genealogical Society, who do a lot of family research requests so have passed this information on to the research officer as I believe it would be a great benefit. I have told her where it has come from of course.
Great that you thought to write this knowledge down, many don't and it gets lost with time.

Hi all I am a bit lost in here but I have a Robert Machell b 1747 (not sure where) and married Mary Frears in 1769 St James Whitehaven Cumbria. He is listed as a resident of Whitehaven an Mariner on the Marriage Bonds. I also have a death for 1816. At this stage I do not have other children nor do I have anything to tie this death to my Robert.
Mary Machell married Joseph Barwise and later Thomas Barwise. 2 of her children have Machell in their christian names.
This is a new line of Research for me. as I had problems finding parents for Mary for a very long time.

yes this is correct, however there is a lot more on the CD. such as occupation, who else is buried in the grave, address at time of death etc.
Of course the online index is still a very handy asset!

who were Eliza's parents, although I believe John b 1832 was the youngest in this family and does appear on the cencus with John and Fanny. There were quite a few Woodheads in this area at the time, but have never been able to connect any!

Thankyou Velda, I had looked here but hoping there may be more information some where else. I did not mentioned I had looked here however. Even though there was an extra one for James I had not come across previously. seems I had not looked at this site for a while and new stuff being added all the time, no doubt!
Again Thankyou
