And no Henry Jagger or Harriet Whiteley either, Jan. Both surnames run in my family but not in conjunction with the first names. Sorry!

Hi Jan,

No, no Hannah Cockroft around that date, I'm afraid. I've only got one b 1855. It's one of those really common names in the area, isn't it? My umpteeth GGM Sarah or Sally Cockcroft came from Heptonstall where there were lots, but I don't know if that's of any use to you.

love

Hi Jan,
I found his burial on the Ancestry site, under the West Yorkshire Non-Conformist Records. I wasn't really looking for him - I'd order a copy of the deaths page from the Halifax Guardian records at the library, and he was on the same page as two of my Jaggers (sheer coincidence!) Hallo, I thought, I know that name and address: is there anything more about him?
I have no idea whether the burial ground still exists, so many have been destroyed now. I hope you find out. Did you ever find his birth record? I had zero luck with that.
I have found so much about my own Jaggers I now don't know what to do with it. I've got several new cousins, too! I only need to find the one who made a fortune in the American Civil War now .... and whose name I don't know .... and I can retire happily to another family line.
Cheers
Maggie

Jan,
You almost certainly have this by now: Jervis Jagger buried 30 July 1865 at Clayton Heights NC chapel. His residence is given as Shaw Hill, but the death announcement in the Halifax Guardian of 5 August 1865 says he was a table cloth weaver of Whitegate Terrace Southowram (an address I know you recognise). Death 26th July.
Have you made progress identifying Hannah?

I see the Ancestry transcibers have read Chartley as PRIESTLEY. Can't say I agree with that, but if it opens up another avenue of search for you ..
Good Luck!

Hello, Mary,

I have a pretty full tree back from your Joseph to Thomas Barker b abt 1562, which covers my Barker family from Foldhead, Mirfield, as well. I assume your Joseph was son of Daniel? My line goes through Isaac Jr if you've come across him.

I'm trying to sort out some later descendants, in particular which Joseph was the father of Joshua b 1800, who lived at Three Oaks, Mirfield. If we can help each other, that would be great!

Going back a couple of generations, Smith Uttley's parents were Joseph Utlley and Mary Ann Hargreaves. Does anyone by any chance have a copy of the marriage certificate for Joseph and Mary Ann, married in Halifax in the first quarter of 1846? I am keen to know the first name of Joseph's father.
Thanks - Maggie
